The Auxiliary of the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center has donated $10,000 to support furnishings and equipment for the Child Advocacy Center of Niagara’s new facility in the Golisano Center for Community Health. Auxiliary funds will support forensic interview and therapeutic components for the Center as well as furnishings and décor in waiting areas.
Forensic interviews are conducted at the Center to support coordination of law enforcement and child protection professionals, reduce the number of times a child is interviewed and ultimately to reduce the trauma for the child. Therapeutic services include evidence-based trauma focused intervention. Auxiliary funds will support the addition of Developmental Play Therapy to services provided at the Center.
The Auxiliary of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center was founded in 1905 as the Women’s Auxiliary. Now extending membership to men and women, the Auxiliary hosts special events such as jewelry and book sales, fundraising dinners and prize drawings. The Auxiliary also operates a popular gift shop located in the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center lobby that offers a wide selection of gifts, cards, jewelry, candy floral arrangements and other gift items for hospital patients, staff and visitors.
“The generosity of the Auxiliary helped open the doors of the Child Advocacy Center of Niagara in 1995”, stated Child Advocacy Center director Ann Marie Tucker. “The children and families we serve are the true beneficiaries of their hard work and support. We are so very grateful for their continued generosity.”
