The Niagara County Child Fatality Review Team is sponsoring a training program entitled Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) and the Medicolegal Investigation: “First Do No Harm” on July 13, 2018, from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm at the Four Points by Sheraton Niagara Falls. The training is designed for first responders, police, child protective services and medical examiners and coroners, as well as participants in child fatality review teams.
The goal of the half-day presentation is to understand the scene investigation, early crisis grief, and the role of the doll re-enactment tool that is used during infant death investigations. The training will be presented by Brian P. Ehret, F-ABMDI, Senior Forensic Investigator, Office of the Onondaga County Medical Examiner and Nessa Vercillo, CTBS, who works with children and families as a crisis intervention counselor with the Onondaga County Office of the Medical Examiner.
The training is offered free of charge through funding from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services through the Niagara County Department of Social Services. Pre-registration is required. For more information, see the event flier. Registration can be made online.
